Lucy Pritchard, MClinRes RD - Specialist Dietitian
"For me, being a dietitian is
a calling. I am passionate about what I do."
I am a Plymouth area-based Specialist Dietitian and Consultant Dietitian at Nuffield Health and specialise in IBS and other gut disorders. I have over 18 years NHS experience and previously worked as a gastroenterology and IBD specialist dietitian at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. I set up my freelance business in 2016 working alongside Nuffield Health to make evidence-based nutrition and dietary advice accessible to people with IBS and other gut conditions.
In 2017, my passion for improving healthcare led me to apply for and secure a prestigious Health Education England (HEE)/ National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) studentship completing a Master’s in Clinical Research (MClinRes) at the University of Plymouth (First-class degree awarded). I am a published academic co-author, with research published in peer-reviewed journals to include Frontline Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition. I have presented at several scientific papers in the field of coeliac disease and presented at conferences.
Recognised as a specialist in the management of IBS, IBD including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, coeliac disease and diverticular disease. I have extensive experience of the low FODMAP diet and gluten free living. I have also up-skilled, recognising the importance of nutrition on gut health, I am passionate about women's health issues and weight management.
When faced with illness or a specific health concern, or simply looking to improve overall well-being, interpreting complex information and advice about diet can require specialist help and support which I strive to provide in a non-judgemental, supportive and empathetic way.
